Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from October 13 to 15.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A sound system, a TV and kitchenware were stolen during a break-in at a Voortrekker Road business.

Saturday – A white Toyota Hilux was stolen from Carnival City. Laptops, a cellphone and other valuables were inside the vehicle.

• A home in Pitt Street, Brenthurst, was burgled of a TV, a tablet, a cellphone and other household items.

• Liquor, a TV, a sound system and a bronze ornament were stolen during a break-in at a residence along Hove Road in Dalpark.

Sunday – A motorcycle was stolen from an address in Drysdale Street, Brakpan North.

• Money was stolen from a woman’s bank account after she attempted to use an ATM in Voortrekker Road. The victim and her daughter went to withdraw cash at around 12:30.

As she inserted the card into the ATM, the victim was surrounded by three men, one of whom took her card out of the machine and pressed a few buttons.

He told the victim she was using the ATM wrong. The man then told the victim to enter her pin and walked away.

The woman’s daughter immediately called the bank to stop the card but was informed that R5 000 had already been withdrawn.
