Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from September 8 to 10.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A woman walking along Van der Walt Road in Dalview was robbed by two men at 10:14. The duo approached the woman and threatened her with a knife. They fled with the victim’s cellphone and smart watch.

• A house robbery occurred at a home along Mulberry Street in Dalpark at around 19:00. The property’s landlord was at the residence talking to the tenant in the yard when they were confronted by three men.

Two of the intruders were armed with guns while the third was brandishing a garden fork. They forced the pair inside the house and wanted to know if there were any other people at home.

The tenant’s wife and children were inside the house. The robbers tied the victims up with shoelaces and fled with five cellphones.

Saturday – A battery was stolen from a vehicle parked at the corner of Voortrekker Road and High Street.

• A storage room at an address along George Avenue was burgled of two gas bottles, a generator, a lawnmower, two wheelbarrows and other valuables.

• A braai turned into a nightmare for a group of friends in Dalpark when their social gathering was interrupted by two robbers.

The incident took place at an address along Wordsworth Street at 19:40. The robbers jumped a wall to gain access to the property.

They forced everyone inside the house into a bedroom. Children were also present during the robbery. A laptop, cellphones, cash and a TV were taken.

Sunday – A man was robbed at knifepoint at an address along Wenden Avenue at 13:00. The victim arrived at the house to drop off groceries for a relative when a man walked into the yard and asked him for a cigarette. The man then tried to stab the victim and took his cellphone and baseball cap.
