Benoni Flying Squad makes their presence known in Brakpan

Four arrested and drugs and home-made weapons seized.

Over the past weekend, Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members arrested four suspects and recovered two homemade firearms in Brakpan.

According to BFS spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, three suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.

The arrests were made along Station Road, High Street and Voortrekker Road. Nyaope (heroine), cat (cocaine) and crystal methamphetamine were confiscated in these separate incidents.

On Sunday at around 15:00, members followed up information that led to an address along Brodigan Street in Dalview.

At the residence, a 63-year-old was arrested when members discovered a homemade pipe gun, as well as a pen gun together with five shotgun rounds, seven .22 rounds and one 9mm round.

Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects, aged 27 to 63 years, will be appearing in the Brakpan Magistrates Court facing charges of possession of drugs, possession of a homemade firearm, and unlicensed ammunition.
