Robbers saunter into Brakpan North home after door left open

The intruders made off with over half a million rand worth of goods.

An open door led to trouble for a Brakpan North family and their guest last Thursday evening, providing an opportunity for house robbers to pounce.

According to Brakpan police, the robbery took place at a home along Ellis Street at around 20:15.

Three men walked into the house after the living room door was left open for the family’s dog to go outside.

The female homeowner, her two sons and their friend were threatened at gunpoint and told to be silent. One of the victims was struck on the head.

The sons and their friend were tied up. The robbers ransacked the house taking TVs, a gaming console, speakers, iPhones and headsets.

They also took a blue Kia Rio, as well as the keys to the house and front gate. The value of the stolen goods is over half a million rand.
