Haul of suspected stolen goods also recovered.

A 35-year-old man was arrested in Brakpan last Tuesday after he was found in possession of drugs and suspected stolen property.

According to Brakpan SAPS spokesperson Captain Pearl van Staad, members of Ekurhuleni Crime Intelligence District Central CIS, Ekurhuleni District Trio Operational, various security companies and other role players affected the arrest.

“Members received information from crime intelligence regarding a male who was on his way to deliver a substantial amount of drugs,” she said.

“An operational plan was set in place and executed once the suspect was spotted.”

Upon searching the man, members found a large knife, and four plastic bags containing crystal meth with a street value of R10 000 and R90 in cash.

The man further led the team to his house where a large blue bag containing various items was found. He could not provide the team with a satisfactory reason as to why he had these goods in his possession.

The bag contained 12 wristwatches, SIM cards, 15 cellphones, 10 cellphone batteries, nine knives, one knuckle duster, two pairs of sunglasses, a calculator, a hand-held gaming console, a video recorder, a GPS, two screen protectors and one hand radio.

The value of these items is R40 000. The man was detained at the Brakpan Police Station.
