Truck driver hijacked after being pulled over by bogus cops

The driver was threatened at gunpoint, blindfolded and held captive by the hijackers.

Cases of hijacking and kidnapping have been opened after a truck driver was targeted by bogus law enforcers last Wednesday.

Police information reveals the driver was travelling along Heidelberg Road near Dalpark in a white Hino truck en route to collect stock.

He reported that the occupants of an unmarked white police vehicle indicated to him to stop at around 12:20.

After pulling over, the driver was approached by a man in police uniform who told him there was a problem with the truck’s lights.

The driver exited the truck to inspect the lights when he noticed another white vehicle parked behind the truck.

A man alighted from this car and pointed a gun at the driver, who was then blindfolded.

The driver was told to cooperate and was placed inside the vehicle.

He was driven around and searched. The driver was then instructed to call his employer and report that the truck had been stolen from a petrol station.

The hijackers threatened to shoot him if he did not do as instructed. After some time, the driver was released in an area unfamiliar to him.

He made his way to the nearest police station, Diepkloof SAPS, and reported the incident. The driver also reported that his cellphone and some other personal belongings were stolen.
