SAPS celebrates its women

The event saw about 200 women attend and get spoilt with motivational talks and two meals.

The Brakpan SAPS ended Women’s Month with an event for the SAPS women at the Eric Holdtman Service Centre on Friday.

The theme was black and white, and the attendees dressed to the nines in formal attire. Several speakers addressed the ladies, which included women from various stakeholders.

“The guests were served while being pampered with words of motivation, encouragement and spiritual revival by four powerful women speakers holding high positions in their respective departments,” said Constable Audrey

Buthelezi, the corporate communications officer and Sector 1 manager for the Brakpan SAPS.

The speakers included the senior magistrate from the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court, Pulane Maredi, certified life coach Hillary Lukhele, social worker Eva Mathunyane, pastor Noma Ndabula and Buthelezi.

Topics discussed were the law for women, education and self-improvement, financial freedom, health and beauty, women and spirituality and mental health.

Captain Godfrey Booysens, the chaplain at the Brakpan Police Station, opened the event, telling the ladies to be comfortable in their skin.

“You also need to be comfortable with being alone. When you are by yourself, you are just being you, and that is where you can fly like an eagle,” he said.

The Brakpan CPF and various businesses ensured a successful event, with sponsorships of food, drinks, decorations, and presents for the speakers. The venue was also sponsored.

“The objective of this seminar was to bring together women from the working and non-working classes, educated or not, who are challenged by life, and those who just needed a word of encouragement,“ Buthelezi explained.

“The goal was met.”

Despite some last-minute arrangements needing doing, the event was a huge success, with about 200 women giving compliments and wishing for similar events in the future.
