Taxi driver shoots at pedestrians

The pair declined to get inside the taxi after the driver stopped.

Two friends making their way home in Sherwood Gardens last Wednesday evening were shot at by a taxi driver travelling in a white Toyota Quantum.

A case of attempted murder is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.

Police reports reveal the pair was walking along Bertram Street at around 19:15 when the driver pulled up behind them and called out to them.

He told them to get inside the taxi but they declined and told him they were not far from home and didn’t need a ride.

The driver is reported to have then opened fire on them. It is not indicated how many shots were fired.

The friends ran towards Botten Street, with the driver following in the taxi, where they managed to evade him.

They were physically unharmed during the incident.
