San Michele Home crowns Mr and Miss Mental Wellness

The pageant aimed to give patients and beneficiaries the chance to feel beautiful and valuable.

The San Michele Home for the intellectually and physically disabled held the inaugural Mr and Miss Mental Wellness pageant at the home on July 27.

Patients and beneficiaries of four NPOs – San Michele, Vita Nova, Sunfield Fortuna and Logwood Village – competed for the crowns.

Mr and Miss Mental Wellness each received a crown, sash and floating trophy. They were Darryl Smith from Vita Nova and Gabeda Stowman from San Michele.

All the participants who didn’t receive special awards received a finalist sash and gift bag for participating, and they certainly had heaps of fun. Ralph Raman was the MC.

Between the categories, Anver Mohamed, a saxophonist who goes by Mr Magic; Angel Ndou, an autistic musician with a genius talent for music; and the Silhouettes of Christ brass band entertained the guests. Leslie Manus from Manuscript Holding sponsored the sound and music.
