Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from July 26 to 28.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A white Mercedes-Benz was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

• A home in Moepel Street, Dalpark, was burgled of a TV, a laptop, a gaming console and other valuables.

• A trailer was stolen from an address along Hoogenhout Street in Brenthurst.

• An attempted murder case was opened after intruders shot at a Dalpark resident.

The Sterkbos Street resident was viewing his home security cameras at around 21:20 when he saw three men in his neighbour’s yard.

He watched as the men then jumped the wall into his property and he went outside to confront them.

As the resident approached the trio, shots were fired at him and he returned fire with his own gun.
The men fled in different directions.

• A Dalview woman was robbed in her Siding Street home by two gunmen. The victim was in bed when two men kicked open the door at about 23:30.

When the victim screamed, one of the men threatened to kill her. She was dragged from her bed and assaulted. One of the men struck her in the face with his firearm.

The robbers fled with a laptop, a sewing machine, a cellphone and R1 000 cash.

Saturday – A laptop was stolen during a break-in at a home along Gladstone Avenue.

Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
