Man guilty of robbery gets 15 years

The robber assaulted his victim and threatened him with a firearm before stealing electronics worth more than R110 000.

A sentence of 15 years and six months was handed down to Siduduzo Ndlovu (26) on June 20 in the Brakpan Regional Court for one count of robbery with aggravating circumstances and one count of illegal immigration.

Ndlovu was arrested on January 18, 2022, released on bail, first appeared on October 24 of that year, pleaded guilty to all counts on March 26, 2024, and was found guilty on the same date.

The Johannesburg resident attacked Matsepo Melokwe on April 8, 2021, assaulting him and threatening him with a firearm before stealing earphones, routers, memory cards, USB cables, remotes, cellphones, DSTV decoders and cash valued at R112 273 in Brakpan.

The robbery earned Ndlovu 15 years in prison and the illegal immigration six months, after which he will be deported to Zimbabwe, his country of origin.
