Do not ignore the signs of Mpox virus
The City of Ekurhuleni cautions residents to promptly report suspected symptoms.
The CoE has issued a public advisory following the detection of Mpox (monkeypox) cases in Gauteng, as reported by the Gauteng Department of Health.
The CoE urges residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected virus symptoms.
In light of this development, the city emphasises the importance of early detection and treatment for those who might have come into contact with known cases.
Healthcare facilities are ready to provide the necessary diagnosis and treatment promptly. Health promoters will be stationed in clinic waiting areas to raise awareness and educate the community.

They will inform patients about the signs and symptoms of Mpox and encourage seeking medical attention upon suspicion of infection.
One of the notable symptoms residents should watch for is a distinct rash resembling pimples or blisters, which typically begins on the face and can spread to other parts of the body, including the mouth, hands, feet, chest, or genitals.
Mpox is highly contagious and can spread through various forms of close contact with infected individuals, including kissing, hugging, sexual contact, and sharing personal items such as bedding, towels, and clothing.
The CoE urges residents to take proactive measures to prevent the spread of Mpox and seek medical advice promptly if they suspect infection.
