Motorist pistol-whipped during hijacking

The hijackers also took the victim's house keys and cellphone.

A 28-year-old Brakpan man was injured during a hijacking on Wednesday morning.

According to police information, the incident took place at an address along Northdene Avenue at around 05:30.

As the victim was walking towards the vehicle, a blue Volkswagen Golf (which belongs to his girlfriend), he heard footsteps behind him.

He turned and saw three men, one of whom pointed a gun at him. The men demanded the keys to the car, which the victim handed over.

The gunman then struck the victim with the weapon, causing an injury to his forehead.

He was also robbed of his house keys and cellphone.

Two of the men then climbed into the Golf while the gunman forced the victim to lie on the ground.

He then joined his accomplices and the trio drove off. A case of hijacking was opened at the Brakpan Police Station.
