CoE prioritises Tweedy Park lifts

The municipality hopes to fast-track the repair process.

The CoE has apologised for the delay in repairing the lifts at the Tweedy Park Old Age Home.

The Brakpan Herald reported on the lifts’ complete breakdown in the May 3 edition, Lifts at Tweedy Park broken again.

According to the residents, the only lift of the two that somewhat worked, but with many difficulties, completely ceased operating, leaving many elderly residents stranded.

CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said a contractor was assigned to conduct assessments, and they furnished the city with a quotation.

“Unfortunately, we could not proceed with repairs and reconstruction due to unforeseen circumstances until the tender lapsed. We are busy putting a new tender in place and hope to fast-track the process so work can get underway,” he said.

“We will prioritise the lift repairs once the new tender is in place. The city apologises for the delay.”
