Plea made for donations of animal blankets

SPOT is in need of blankets and other donations for their upcoming sterilisation weekend.

Following the success of outreach programmes in local areas in need, Sunny’s Pet Outreach Team (SPOT) NPC will again be helping animals in the community this weekend (March 9 and 10).

In December, the NPC was able to assist over a hundred pets from low income households with vaccinations, tick and flea treatment, as well as a few sterilisations.

This weekend’s sterilisation programme will see a team from WanderVet in Pretoria visiting Brakpan to assist with over 50 pet sterilisations.

They will be at the Mgongo informal settlement (Location Road) on Saturday and the Just Wheels Club on Sunday.

While the programme is fully booked, SPOT has appealed for donations of blankets for the animals.

New or used blankets in a good, clean condition will be gratefully accepted.

“We really would appreciate a helping hand and show the visiting vet team that Brakpan is a community,” said Sanette Bosman from SPOT.

Donations of water and eats for the 30 members of the team and volunteers offering up their entire weekend will also appreciated.

If you can help in any way, contact Bosman on 072 689 1767.
