Springs SPCA welcomes Hoërskool Die Anker with paws wide open
The netball team visited the SPCA as part of their initiative to give back.
Hoërskool Die Anker’s first netball team visited the Springs SPCA on Saturday as part of their community service initiative.
Each team member from the Brakpan-based school brought bags of treats for the animals as part of giving back to the community and learning the value of offering their time over the weekend.
Coach Candice Sachse says her first pick was the SPCA as she and fellow coach, Chené Hutton, run a mentorship programme as part of their sporting careers.
“I am a mentor on the netball court and therefore would like to mentor them off the court as well.”
They were given the chance to also interact and play with the dogs which made for some fun and much-needed love and care for their newfound fur friends.
“It is very important for our school and team to realise how difficult it is nowadays and that any small gesture can a make a difference. Our next adventure will be visiting old age homes to spend a day with the elderly.”
The girls enjoyed themselves as their day was filled with laughter and happy tears.
