Muriel Brand School learners enjoy Christmas lunch

The party was an opportunity for the learners to enjoy good food and receive personalised gifts.

Learners from Muriel Brand School celebrated Christmas and the end of the year with a lunch on December 1 when Diakonos, MachKnitz and the Touched by Grace project spoiled the learners.

Each child received a personalised gift made possible by various sponsors and individuals. There were 71 children, between Grade RR and 12, who are usually part of a feeding scheme at the school.

MachKnitz facilitated the collection, boxing and handing out of the gifts, working with more than 50 donors to get the children’s toiletries, stationery and other gifts.

The director of Touched by Grace, Leonie Cronje, told the Brakpan Herald on Friday the NPO started in 2016 and involved the Muriel Brand School hostel children who are less fortunate. They have helped children with matric farewells, holidays, and birthdays.

They assist the children with hygiene and sanitary products. This is called the LuluLove project, after a former head girl of the school.
