Bikers revving up for annual Toy Run

Non-riding attendees are also welcome to donate toys.

Polish your iron steeds and get the motors running, the 41st annual Toy Run is drawing near with organisers hoping to collect a mountain of toys.

Teaming up with the Lions Club South Africa as well as the Round Table, this is your chance to bring a smile to a child in need this festive season.

For the 13th consecutive year, thousands of bikers, as well as the public, will be welcomed to the Benoni Northerns Sport Club with Northmead’s Pete Beart, organiser and chairperson of the trust, ensuring that the event is a roaring success.

To gain entry to one of the city’s most anticipated calendar events, grab the family, some toys and head on over to the venue on November 26, with mass rides expected to arrive from 09:30.

With live bands such as Tryst and Back Bone already booked and craft and food vendors already securing their spots, the day promises to be fun for young and old.

If you are considering donating a toy to the cause, Pete says that although a towering teddy may look impressive on the back of a bike, careful consideration should be given to the donations’ practicality as well as how many children may benefit from it.

“I urge participants to consider putting their money to better use,” he said.

“A variety of smaller toys goes a long way and could be better suited to gift to a group of children. We are always happy to receive educational material, sports equipment and some pamper products for our teenage recipients.

Families and friends of riders are urged to make their way directly to the venue for the mass rides to consist only of motorcycles.”

The public is invited to witness the arrival of the riders from 09:30 and thereafter to enjoy the festivities. Non-riding attendees are welcome to donate toys.

Mass rides will leave the following locations at 09:00:
• Carnival City
• Irene Village Mall
• The Blockhouse
• Silverstar Casino
