SAPS hosts Women’s Month fun walk

The event was positive and attendees had a lot of fun.

SAPS and various stakeholders last Saturday held a march for Women’s Month to honour the women in the community that are always there to help.

They treated ladies in attendance to a motivational talk, food, cupcakes, small gifts, and a self-defence demonstration by ZULEKU martial arts.

The ladies completed a 3km fun walk around the hockey fields at Hoërskool Stoffberg before getting the self-defence demonstration and food.

Before starting the walk, ladies did a ‘red carpet walk’ one or two at a time while the other attendees cheered and complimented them.

Rose Matjile, Livona Ferendale, Maya Dhlamini and Alice Dhlamini represented correctional services.

The energy remained high throughout the event, and some ladies even ran the walk while music by female artists helped them keep pace. At one point in the walk, some ladies entered a chase to catch some of the ZULEKU members to get a gift.

The Brakpan SAPS communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi said, “Women don’t need motivation. We do not need to be motivated by men, we are self-motivated. Don’t wait for another person to affirm you. Walk the walk, talk the talk and do it as a woman, because you can!

“Do not let negativity take over your lives or stop you from getting what you want. Go out there and do what you need to do, say what you need to say, and say it with pride and self-respect.”

Some women received special gifts to thank them for always being part of and helping the community. Stakeholders present at the event include CPF, SAPS, Correctional Services, AVBOB, ZULEKU and EMS Chaplaincy Trauma Support.
