One for the ladies

Fundraising event for ladies golf team was a hit.

The State Mines Country Club’s Ladies Captain’s Day was termed a success after a number of golfers turned up on the course on Saturday.

The event aims to raise funds for the ladies’ team which competes in the Ekurhuleni league.

“It went so well as all the people liked the different games we played,” said captain Letticia Marais.

Those games included using cricket bats and different items to tee off on the eighth hole.

“There was a fantastic turnout. We had great support from club members and visitors,” said Marais.

State Mines is among the top two teams in the league at the moment and the event was set up to promote and raise funds for the team.

“We do this every year to help look after the team,” said Marais.

With the event and their season going well so far, there is a feeling that the ladies team at State Mines can achieve big things this year.
