Life Dalview Hospital tests emergency preparedness with bomb drill

The EMPD K9 Unit and the SAPS Bomb Squad were included in the safety exercise.

Life Dalview Hospital conducted an evacuation bomb drill on Tuesday. As part of the exercise, the hospital included the EMPD K9 Unit and the SAPS Bomb Squad.

All evacuation and emergency protocols were tested and the shortcomings were identified.

This is an annual requirement for the hospital as part of emergency preparedness.

“I would like to thank all healthcare workers, employees, EMPD unit and SAPS bomb squad staff involved for their quick response and support to ensure the drill was safely actioned,” said Reshma Vanmali, Life Dalview Hospital manager.

“We understand that this event may cause a level of anxiety for the community but please be assured we do this to ensure the hospital and the staff know what to do in an emergency.”
