Food drive in aid of elderly

Residents are encouraged to show their support.

A food drive in aid of the residents of the Eric Holdtman Service Centre at Tweedy Park will be held at Sherwood Pick n Pay this Saturday (June 10) from 08:30 to 14:00.

Staff from Integra Properties organised the drive after hearing about the centre’s needs.

“We contacted a few business partners for help and they generously promised cash donations but we thought that we should do more,” said van Aardt.

“We believe that the residents of Brakpan will once again open their hearts and hopefully their wallets to support the drive.

“We realise that in the current economic climate it would be very difficult to find one donor to fulfill the total need but we are sure that with the generous support of many people, we can repay a bit of the debt that we do have towards our senior citizens, one donation at a time.

“Our dream is to have the drive monthly until a more permanent solution is found for our elders.”

Food items required are rice, cooking oil, long-life milk, sugar, samp, spaghetti, spices, salt, pepper, soup, fresh vegetables and tinned goods (tomato and onion, pilchards, bully beef and tomato paste).
