Six-year-old Marnitz Otten looks set to claim the South African Short Circuit Series.

The Laerskool Dalview learner won the third leg of the series in Benoni on Saturday. This follows him winning the previous two. He competes in the PW50 Class.

“So far he’s won all the races,” said his proud mother Izele.

The youngster has been in great form and is now a big favourite to win the national championship.

“He wakes me up on a weekend asking when we can go and practice. I must say for his age he’s very committed,” said Marnitz’s father Willem.

He has now won the Vereeniging, Pietermaritzburg and Benoni legs of the championship as he looks to improve on his third-place finish from last year.

On June 24, he will be racing in the Polokwane leg of the championship. The youngster is on a quest to achieve greatness like his role model Brad Binder.

Marnitz is also one of the few riders younger than the age of eight on the circuit.
