Thieves have plundered cables along Heidelberg Road (R23) near Leachville.
According to Freedom Front Plus PR Clr Riaan van Zyl, about 200m of cables have been removed.
He explained the cables are no longer in use but could have been reused.
“It is cable that does not work but it is still cable that we can use,” he said.
Jessy Naiker from the Dalpark CPF discovered the theft last Thursday morning.
Van Zyl added the cables are worth a lot of money on the scrap market.
Scrap metal dealers are urged to refrain from buying illegally acquired goods.
Suspicious activities may be reported to Brakpan police on 011 744 7100.
