Pathfinder Club launched at Brakpan High School

Club will equip young people with life skills.

Excitement abounded at the launch of Brakpan High School’s Pathfinder Club last Wednesday.

The club is affiliated with the Trans-Orange Conference Club. The club enrolled more than 50 learners determined to serve the school and the community.

Representatives from the programme and the Brakpan SAPS attended the launch.

According to principal Lucky Nkopane, the club’s purpose is to instil a positive attitude in learners, the correct value system, ethics and mutual respect.

“We also believe the club will assist our learners with the necessary skills to develop instincts of good decision-making and correct judgement when confronted by awkward challenges in life,” said Nkopane.

The club has a curriculum that addresses the special needs of young people.

It enjoys the support of the Gauteng Education Department as part of values in education.

The main daily tasks of the learners are to hoist the national flag, the African Union flag and the school flag.
