Cops recover stolen stock worth R6m

Three men were arrested in connection with the robbery at a Vulcania business.

Three men were arrested in Pretoria on Tuesday in connection with the robbery of a business in Brakpan.

Law enforcers also recovered stolen stock (cellulose ether) valued at R6m.

According to the Brakpan SAPS communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi the Ekurhuleni District’s Trio Investigators and Trio Operational Task Team received a tip-off about goods stolen during a robbery on February 25 at a business along Uranium Street in Vulcania.

“They acted swiftly and cornered two suspects in Silverton with some of the stolen items. The suspects led the members to Pretoria West, where the third suspect was apprehended,” said Buthelezi.

“Other stolen articles were recovered at a warehouse in Germiston.”

Thirty-four pallets containing 25kg bags of cellulose ether, used to produce various products, were seized.

The men were detained at the Brakpan Police Station on charges of business robbery.
