Save the date: SA Guide Dogs Association fun day

The Assistance, Service and Guide Dogs will host an exhilarating demonstration in the arena.

The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is excited to announce its annual family fun day fundraising event, which will be held on March 5 at its premises in Paulshof.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Birthday Bash!’, in celebration of the organisation’s 70th birthday.

The purpose of the event is to raise much-needed funds to continue changing the lives of visually and physically disabled individuals.

Regional marketing manager Nicole Barros said they have a fun-filled programme with lots of exciting activities planned for the day.

“Our puppies in training are practising hard to put their ‘best paw’ forward, along with their trainers.

“Our kennel staff are getting ready to share information with our visitors during the kennel tours, while exhilarating demonstrations from our assistance, service and guide dogs await spectators in the arena,” she said.

“We will also have our dog races throughout the day, as this will add fun and laughter to the celebrations.

“The orientation and mobility team is preparing interesting activities where visitors will be challenged to step out of their comfort zone into the shoes of a visually impaired person. The ‘kids zone’ promises fun and we look forward to seeing the little ones there.

“Visitors can enjoy the entertainment in the arena while sipping on some bubbly at our beer garden and enjoy the tasty food and various interesting items for sale from the many vendors.
