Rand Water warns of 30-hour water interruption

Residents are urged to prepare for the water interruption.

The planned maintenance of Rand Water’s pipelines will result in a 30-hour water interruption from 03:00 on February 24 to 09:00 on February 25.

According to Makenosi Maroo, the spokesperson for the utility, all affected municipalities have been notified to implement the appropriate contingency plans.

“The project entails the implementation of various cross-connections as part of Rand Water’s strategy to refurbish and upgrade the infrastructure for sustainability purposes,” said Maroo.

“The affected pipelines run from the Mapleton Booster Pump Station to the Rynfield Vlakfontein Reservoir.

“Pipelines that will further be affected run from Rynfield to the Rietvlei Nature Reserve in Tshwane and from Van Dyk Park.”

Residents are urged to take the necessary steps to prepare for the planned interruptions.

The entire Ekurhuleni metro may be affected.
