Inquest docket opened after a man’s body found behind petrol station

An EMPD officer was informed about the body while conducting traffic stops in the area.

The body of a man in his 40s was found behind a petrol station at the corner of Paul Kruger and Main Reef roads in Kingsway on January 25.

An EMPD officer, who was conducting traffic stops at the intersection at around 12:30, was approached by a woman who informed him about the body.

Upon investigation, he found the body on a gravel road in the veld. The deceased had a gunshot wound to the forehead and a silver firearm with no serial number was found next to his body.

He was dressed in a green and grey T-shirt, black tracksuit pants and black Adidas takkies. Police have opened an inquest docket.
