Ekurhuleni speaker Raymond Dhlamini bestowed the title and status of aldermanship upon five councillors at the Germiston Council Chambers on November 24.
This title is presented to councillors who, in line with the City’s conferment of civic honours policy among other criteria, have over several years served on one or more local government bodies in South Africa.
The title is conferred once a year as and when councillors reach the required milestone. They retain the title even after they leave public office.
Aldermanship was conferred to Tracey Lourenco, Pieter Henning, Jaco Terblanche, Phillip Mabekenyane Thamahane and Nomalanga Annah Mnguni.
