The City of Ekurhuleni has appealed to managing agents, body corporates, trustees, estate managers and security supervisors to allow supervised entry onto the premises so that meter readings can be captured by meter readers.
The city is mandated to improve the quality of data captured by eradicating errors and inaccurate readings.
To do so, the city is on a quest to reduce the amount of interim/estimated billings by deploying meter readers throughout Ekurhuleni.
The city’s meter readers, however, have restricted access at various residences to read the meters on the premises.

As such, the city requests supervised entry onto the premises.
The meter readers will carry a valid identification card and a letter signed by the accounting officer (city manager).
The ID card will contain the contact details of the responsible manager/supervisor at the municipality who will be able to validate and verify the employment/deployment of the meter reader.
By allowing supervised access to meter readers, the possibility of estimated meter readings will be reduced resulting in billing for actual water and energy services consumed. Failure to comply may lead to service interruptions.
