Resident hijacked after arriving home

The victim's bakkie was later recovered.

A Wenden Avenue man was robbed of his Toyota Hilux bakkie by two gunmen on Monday morning.

According to information received from Brakpan police, the incident took place at about 05:50.

The victim arrived home and drove the bakkie into the yard, leaving the vehicle idle while he went to close the gate.

When confronted by two armed men he ran back into the yard screaming.

The hijackers drove off in the bakkie, which was recovered a short while later in Actonville, Benoni.

In August, local police warned of a spike in hijackings in the Brakpan Central area.

The Brakpan Herald reported at the time that the perpetrators were targeting residents leaving or returning home.

Residents are urged to be extra vigilant.
