Ms Deaf South Africa enters world stage

As Meyersdal’s Ms Deaf South Africa 2021 Megan Holmes bows out from her title, she will be unlocking new doors of opportunities on international stage.

As Ms Deaf South Africa 2021’s reign finally comes to an end, she will soon be representing South Africa at Miss & Mister Deaf International in Tanzania.

Three weeks from now will mark an end of an amazing chapter of Megan Holmes’ life as Ms Deaf South Africa 2021.

When one door closes another door opens, and Holmes can attest to that optimistic expression.

She will be competing in an international pageant in Tanzania from October 23 to 31 under the theme Promoting Culture Diversity Awareness.

In an exclusive interview, the 35-year-old mother of one said she was thrilled to start a new chapter in her life.

“This country will be the first African country to stage a world-class beauty pageant. I can’t promise to bring the crown home but I can promise you that I’ll be walking on an international stage and representing my country with pride,” said Holmes.

Being crowned as Ms Deaf South Africa 2021 was unexpected and beyond her dreams.

During her reign, she spearheaded numerous charities and worked alongside several organisations in uplifting lives.

“I will continue with my contribution and influence on people around me, emotionally and financially, by also working with charity organisations. Helping others has always been close to my heart. Winning is not all about wearing a shiny crown and beautiful dresses. It’s much more than that,” she explained.

She said this journey was packed with obstacles and opportunities that made her a better person.

“Till today it still feels like my dream come true, what a journey. But I know that I could have not done this without the people behind my success. I’ve learned that someone wanted to win the title and she has to strive hard to achieve it. There will be many obstacles and they should use them as an opportunity to grow, learn and overcome,” explained Holmes.

To be a beauty queen is not easy as it seems, she said one has to excel in all they do and that it requires hard work, commitment, motivation, and faith.

*6-“My advice for today’s generation from all walks of life, especially women and girls, is for them to be fierce, fabulous, and unapologetic. Why are you trying to fit in when you were born to stand out? It’s time to shine your light and stay true to your authentic self,” she said.
