Resident escapes house robbery unharmed

Man held at gunpoint after arriving home.

A Leachville man was held at gunpoint in his Valsrivier Road home by four intruders on the evening of July 20.

The victim told Brakpan police he arrived home at 18:30 and parked his car in the garage.

As he made his way to the front door, he was confronted by four men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

The victim was forced inside the house and told to lie on the floor.

The robbers threatened to shoot him if he made any noise and asked how many people lived in the house.

After hearing the men were no longer inside the house but were in the garage by his car, the victim saw his chance to escape and ran from his home.

He sought assistance at a neighbouring property and jumped the fence, screaming for help. Community members rushed to his aid and the police were called.

It appears only the man’s cellphone was stolen during the incident.
