Life Dalview Hospital celebrates International Nurses Day

Hospital shows appreciation to their nurses.

Nurses at the Life Dalview Hospital celebrated International Nurses Day on May 12.

The hospital’s nursing manager, Letitia Fourie, welcomed those in attendance and explained more about International Nurses Day.

The day is celebrated annually on the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Fourie thanked the nurses for the work they are doing daily. The hospital’s choir then performed two songs in honour of the hard-working nurses.

“We are extremely proud of the sacrifices our nurses make each day to tend to our patients. They have earned the respect of an entire country for their valiant efforts during the pandemic,” said Merle Victor, chief nurse officer at Life Healthcare.

During the celebrations, the hospital also recognised three of its nurses who were selected for Life Healthcare’s Great 100 Nurses Awards.

These nurses, Megan Strauss, Matsepo Mpungose and Nontobeko Khanyile, have been chosen by their peers for epitomising quality and compassion in their daily work.

Lehlohonolo Tsatsane, regional education manager at East Rand Life College, ended with a word of thanks. She honoured the nurses and stated she was grateful for the work they put in to help others.
