Time to lace up for Colgate Race

The race will start at 06:30. It will start and finish at Boksburg Stadium.

With under three weeks left before hordes of road runners take to the streets of Boksburg for the Colgate Road Race on May 8, the Boksburg Athletic Club (BAC) has confirmed that the race will go ahead as planned.

“The preparations are going great. We have almost 3 000 entries already and lots of prizes and giveaways still coming up,” said the BAC’s Caronn Harris.

Harris also confirmed that the route will stay the same and the distances are 5km, 15km and 32km.

“The goodie bags are valued at double the entry fee and people don’t want to miss out on this fun day out with family and friends.”

The race will start at 06:30. It will start and finish at Boksburg Stadium. The route will start in Jubilee Road and runners will run towards Brakpan, turning off at Barry Marais Road.

They will then turn into Van Wyk Louw Drive where the first water point will be. The runners will follow Van Wyk Louw Drive until they turn into Heidelberg Road where the second water point will be.

They will then turn into Leeuwpoort Street and continue along this road until they reach the third water point outside of the Colgate premises.

After Colgate, they will turn into Van Dyk Road for a short distance and then into Power Street, Brakpan Road, Lonie Road (fourth water point) and continue down until they turn into the stadium gates in Dudley Smith Road.

To add an extra 2km into the 32km race the runners will do a loop in Boksburg South, running in the streets of

Snyman, Dagama, Stanbury, Dick King, Walton and Dundee before joining the route of the 15km.
