Two men were arrested by Brakpan police last Wednesday after they were found in possession of drugs, an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.

The pair was nabbed after members of the Crime Prevention Unit received information about suspected stolen goods at a second-hand goods business along Wenden Avenue.

Police officers arrived at the address at around 15:00.

While there were two men who were pawning a TV, which police confirmed belonged to them, there were another two males that aroused the officers’ suspicions.

“They were searched and one of them was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and one round of ammunition,” said Brakpan SAPS spokesperson Capt Pearl van Staad.

“The other one was found in possession of drugs.”

The men were detained and charged. Brakpan SAPS station commander Brig Fredl Jonck applauded the arresting officers for their swift response and a job well done.
