A number of players from Brakpan club Netball Freakz were part of the Ekurhuleni squat.
The Ekurhuleni u-21 side showed great quality as they beat Tshwane in the final of the Gauteng Championships, held in Pretoria, to take the gold medal home recently.
Netball Freakz’ Nicole and Zanry Gertenbach were part of that team. Ekurhuleni’s u-23 men’s side, for which 16-year-old Brandon van Wyk played, won silver at the tournament.
The other players from Freakz who were at the provincial championships where Mornies Bezuidenhout, who was injured and could not play in the men’s u-23 final, Norma Roets (u-19), Talita Fasen (u-19) and Talita Wessels (u-19).
