Carnival City hosts schools for career expo

The expo was hosted by Carnival City, in conjunction with the Gauteng Gaming Board.

Before lockdown at the end of June, Carnival City, in partnership with the Gauteng Gaming Board, hosted a Career Expo for Youth Month with eight schools within the community.

This was an opportunity for learners to understand their career possibilities in an ever-changing world of work.

Some 80 learners from schools in the community, including Brakpan High School, Dalpark Secondary School, Tsakani Secondary School, Kenneth Masekela Secondary School, Phulong Secondary School, NN Ndebele Secondary School, Esibonelwesihle Secondary School, and Eureka Secondary School attended.

Grades Nine through 12 attended the expo and were provided with facts and information to make informed decisions about future career choices.

A career fair presents a unique opportunity to open learners’ eyes to career possibilities and give them a sense of hope for a better future.

Motivational speaker Thato Sibanyoni addressed the learners and inspired them to grasp life with both hands and live it to the full.

Gauteng Gaming Board acting CEO Thiran Marimuthi was also in attendance. Mduduzi Madonsela, SED manager at Carnival City, added by giving learners the information they need to make informed career decisions, Carnival City is able to uplift the community.

“We are pleased we can contribute to economic growth in our country, especially at a time when it is much-needed,” said Madonsela.
