June and July are jam packed with sports action from around globe with major competitions taking place. A majority of the tournaments are allowing fans back into the stands to watch the games.
Wimbledon is in full swing and the first round of the tournament has already been played. The tournament has allowed spectators back for the games this year. South Africa had two players competing this year. Unfortunately, both players Kevin Anderson and Lloyd Harris went out in the first round of this event. The final matches are scheduled for a little later this month with the women’s final taking place on the 15th and the men’s on the 14th of July.
Rugby supporters will be happy to see the return of the Springboks in their first match in 20 months. The current world champions will be marking their return to the game against Georgia in a warm up match for the Lions tour to South Africa. The British and Irish Lions will kick off their tour of South Africa with their first match against the Emirates Lions. The touring team will play another two warm up matches against the Vodacom Bulls and Cell C Sharks before playing their first match against the Springboks on the 14th of July. The Springboks and the British and Irish Lions will pay a total of four matches and their tour comes to an end with the final match against the Bokke on the 7th of August.
There are currently two major football tournaments taking place, the EURO 2020 and COPA America are well under way with both tournaments having gone past the group stages. This weekend sees the quarter finals of the EURO taking place. The first two matches of Spain vs Switzerland and Italy vs Belgium will be taking place on Friday evening and Saturday will see the other two matches of Czech Republic vs Denmark and England vs Ukraine.
The COPA America will also be playing their quarter final matches this weekend. Peru will be playing Paraguay in their quarter final match on Friday; Saturday will see Chile take on Brazil and Sunday will see Uruguay against Colombia and Argentina vs Ecuador in the last two remaining quarter final matches. The final of both these competitions will take place on the 11th of July.
