Thief cons taxi commuter, robs her

A case of armed robbery is under investigation.

A lone thief made off with a cellphone and R120 in cash after robbing a woman at knifepoint on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was waiting for a taxi in Dalview at 13:30 when she was approached by a man, who struck up a conversation with her and asked where she was going.
She told him she was waiting for transport to Geluksdal and the man informed her that she was waiting in the wrong area.
He explained he also wanted to travel to Geluksdal and convinced her they would find taxis travelling to the area in Brenthurst.
The victim followed him and when they reached Tweedy Road he took out a knife and demanded her belongings.
She handed over her cellphone, valued at R2 800, and money.
The incident was reported to Brakpan police and a case of armed robbery is under investigation.
