Trio arrested for drugs

The apprehended trio face charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances.

A 45-year-old man was arrested along Taft Avenue in Brakpan on Monday morning after he was found in possession of various drugs.

The arrest was made during an anti-drugs operation conducted by the EMPD’s K9 and Drug Enforcement units.

During a search of the man, officers uncovered 22 ziplock bags and a plastic bag containing dagga, seven small and medium-sized ziplock bags of khat and three small ziplock bags of crystal meth.

The value of the drugs is estimated at R16 300.

The man was also found with R370 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the sale of drugs.

He was arrested and taken to the Brakpan Police Station.

In the afternoon, patrolling officers stopped two suspicious-looking men along Shakwane Street in Tsakani.

They were found in possession of dagga, nyaope and rocks (crack cocaine) valued at R1 400, as well as R100 in cash.

The duo, aged 28 and 35, was escorted to the Tsakani Police Station.

The apprehended trio face charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances.
