Little Minions Daycare, situated in Hamilton Avenue, recently raised R500 in support of one of their classmates, Macayla Coetzee.

Three-year-old Macayla, who featured in last week’s Herald (‘We just have to hope’), was diagnosed with acute lymphoma leukaemia in December.

The little girl is undergoing chemotherapy and is prohibited from attending crèche.

In addition to the emotional distress suffered by her parents, it also impacted the family’s finances.

Macayla undergoes treatment Monday to Friday at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital in Parktown.

As a result, her mom, Tarryn Hurter, who works at a local fishing supply store, is only able to work weekends, while her dad, Daniel Coetzee, works the night shift as a security guard in Anzac.

The petrol and parking fees required for the daily trips to the hospital have added to their expenses.

Little Minions Daycare has challenged other local nursery schools and businesses in Brakpan to match or better their donation.
Contributions may be paid to the Hope For Macayla account.
