Weekend crime round-up

A supermarket along Goods Road was robbed by two men.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A laptop, a TV, a wristwatch and other valuables were stolen during a break-in at a residence along Bean Avenue in Leachville.

* A workshop in Strauss Street, Van Eck Park, was burgled of two batteries and a wheelbarrow.

* Groceries, two bicycles, tools, a sound system and a TV were stolen from a home in Middle Road, Rand Collieries.

• Saturday – A business in Prince George Avenue was burgled of various items including cellphones, tools and a meat hamper.

* A supermarket along Goods Road was robbed at 6pm by two men.

The shopkeeper was threatened at gunpoint and assaulted.

The robbers fled with cellphones, cigarettes, cosmetics and cash.

* The driver of charcoal coloured Volkswagen Polo was hijacked along Jacaranda Avenue in Leachville.

The victim arrived at a friend’s house at 8.50pm and the pair was talking outside near the car when they were confronted by two men,

one of whom was armed with a gun.

The friends fled into the yard and the hijackers drove off in the Polo.

The victim’s cellphone, bank cards, ID and driver’s licence were in the car, along with R300 and a baby car seat.

• Sunday – No information was received.
