The Brakpan SAPS commemorated the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign with an awareness event at the Location Road informal settlement last Tuesday.

World Aids Day, which is celebrated on December 1, was also commemorated.

Other stakeholders involved included the Department of Community Safety, Department of Social Development, Department of Health and various non-governmental organisations such as Siyabonga Africa, Leratong Place of Love Crisis Centre, Rata Social Services and Tutela Family Care.

The event was held outdoors and community members gathered to learn more about the services offered by the stakeholders.

Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, hailed the day as a success.

“Some cases were registered regarding social grants and protection orders, and new CPF members were registered,” she said.
