Exploring Brakpan’s heritage

Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the sense of discovery these two heritage architects convey.

Joburg Heritage Virtual Tours and Talks will be exploring Brakpan’s undiscovered heritage on November 22.

Brendan Hart and Yasmin Mayat venture into the little-known field of the built heritage of the town.

Mining started in Brakpan in 1888 with coal mines, essential to the gold mines to provide power, but later two gold mines began operations.

Brendan and Yasmin will be revealing the development of the town and the change in building styles as the town evolved.

Using Wits architectural students, they have been recording and analysing the heritage buildings.

Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the sense of discovery these two heritage architects convey.

While the tour is open to all, space may be limited.
