Beware of tender scammers

The solid and toxic waste removal tender scam is being perpetuated by a person claiming to be an employee of the City.

The City of Ekurhuleni has warned the public to be aware of an ongoing tender scam for the removal, cleaning and rehabilitation of illegally dumped non-toxic, non-objectionable solid waste and rubble on an as-and-when-required basis.

The City has been inundated with complaints from potential service providers who are receiving calls from the scammer soliciting money to purportedly fast track their tender application.

The scammer, who claims to be involved in the tender process, lures applicants to a meeting with an aim to discuss their tender application and recites their personal information contained in their applications to gain their trust.
