Residents encouraged to hire skip bins for building rubble

Customers do not always have to walk to their nearest depots to hire the skip bins.

Building rubble left lying around is not only an eyesore, it is also harmful to the environment.

As such, the City of Ekurhuleni continues to urge residents to make use of the municipal-owned skip bin hire services.

A minimal fee of R1 221.15 allows residents to hire a six cubic metre non-compactable rubble container for the duration of the customer’s requirements.

Masingi Mhinga is a new homeowner at Windmill Park Extension in Boksburg.

She is renovating her house and has building rubble stacked outside her gate, which she said caused a feud with some of her neighbours.

Mhinga was not aware of the municipal skip bin hire service and had only heard of private services which cost large amounts of money.

“I only heard from one of the municipal waste removal officials that I can actually hire the skip bin from the City to contain my rubble at an affordable rate. “So I will go to the Boksburg Waste Depot for the skip bin service,” said Mhinga.

Furthermore, customers do not always have to walk to their nearest depots to hire the skip bins.

It can be done at their convenience telephonically by providing all required information electronically and the bin will be delivered within 24 to 48 hours from the date of application.

Documents required for the application include water and lights account and the client’s ID document.

Customers may call 011 999 0979 to hire a skip bin.
