Man arrested with R150K worth of dagga

The arrest followed an intelligent-driven operation between the EMPD and SAPS.

A 22-year-old man was arrested in Brakpan on Friday by members of the EMPD Eastern Region Task Team after a large amount of dagga was found in his possession.

The young man, who had exited a minibus taxi from Swaziland, was picked up at the corner of Elsburg Road and Van Dyk Street near Helderwyk Estates around 10.30am.

Officers uncovered 7.6kg of dagga valued at R150 000 contained inside two plastic refuse bags.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng, the arrest followed an intelligent-driven operation between the EMPD and SAPS.

The man, who faces charges of possession and possible dealing in dagga, was accompanied to the Brakpan Police Station and is expected to appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court soon.
