Three arrested for drugs

The operation was conducted by members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit.

Drugs valued at approximately R40 000 were seized and three men were arrested during a crime prevention operation in Brakpan on Monday.

At 2.15pm along Wenden Avenue, two men, aged 25 and 26, were handcuffed after officers uncovered eight ziplock bags of heroin, a portable digital scale, 145.83g of khat in two plastic packets, as well as eight ziplock bags of khat valued at R35 350.

The men were also in possession of R700 cash.

These men were arrested along Wenden Avenue and were found in possession of narcotics, a portable digital scale and cash.

A few hours later, a 53-year-old man was arrested along Station Road after he was found in possession of 17.52g of khat in a plastic bag.

His stash was valued at R5 700.

The trio were taken to the Brakpan Police Station and face charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances.
